Lincoln Park Zoo
BEC engineers packages to fit. Due to the age of the boiler room at Lincoln Park Zoo, replacing the existing deaerator posed some complicated challenges. The existing deaerator was located on a mezzanine that could only be accessed if the roof of the near 100 year old building was removed. Not to mention the fact that the existing mezzanine was not structurally sound. BEC was able to design a custom deaerator/surge tank that was able to fit in a very tight location on the ground. Condensate and feedwater pumps needed to be rerouted but the savings on the install made this project a no brainer. BEC also provided a pump staging PLC so that instead of running one large pump for 4 boilers, pumps could turn on and off with the load demand thereby saving the zoo significant electrical savings.
